Report to Council, another ’Time Waster’, and another Failed Motion.

Mc Phail St.Mc Fails Falls

On the 13th July 05 Council received a letter signed by Mr Cartwright on behalf of Gympie Securities undertaking to upgrade stormwater system as per Consultants plan before 1st Oct 05 Plan. On the 19th Dec 05 Council wrote to express its ‘profound disappointment in Gympie Securities negation to honour there undertaking’.
On 6th Jan 06 Gympie Securities replied “assuring that it shares Councils disappoint and accepts its responsibilities”.
I am a little fitter now and inspected the Mc Phail development on Friday and in my opinion if we had a storm today similar to those two storms within one week last year, water would be in peoples homes and over two foot of water would be running down the footpaths again.
If anything as the capacity to hold water in the retention dam is less and the extra flow paths are in place with the same amount of rain the situation is worse. Within a few months we have a return to our seasonal storms.
These people have suffered long enough. For two years they have been under threat of flooding and their home values have been reduced due to Gympie Securities inability to keep the concentrated storm water flows out of homes.

Motion.

That Gympie Securities submit plans and complete work on stormwater drainage to its Mc Phail St development preventing all concentrated stormwater from entering properties and endangering pedestrians, before the 1st October 2006. Or immediately following that date, that Council revisits the legal advice obtained from King and Co in 2005 with a view to carrying out the recommendations.
