The Decline of Mullins Crk Road, What do these Residents get for their Rates?
One of the most beautiful places on earth to live would be in the valley that accommodates Mullins Crk Road. It is breathtaking, picturesque and must be panaramic looking down from the high hills into the valley itself.
Of course with this beauty come the rub, Mullin’s Crk Road is not a road as such it could hardly be defined as a track. This morning I past a lady driving the Australia Post Van, I bet she has had some adventures getting along there in bad weather.
The Questions that I would ask is how long is it since any road maintainance was done on this road?
I used to inspect it regularly during the last term of Council 2004 to 2008 and take photos of individual pot holes and put them up on the over head projector and embarress the other Councillors and staff into getting them fixed but now the track is all pot holes. even the first section which forty years ago had a layer of bitumen on it is reverting back to gravel. What do these people who live on this road get for their rate payments? Would they be justified in withholding payments until something is done? Would they be better off without Council at all and fixing the road up themselves? Just have a look at these two photos. Ron
